We entered our \u201cAppalachian Pale Ale\u201d in this year\u2019s Just Brew It! Homebrew Event, sponsored by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/justeconomicswnc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Just Economics<\/em><\/a>. It garnered rave reviews from the judges and attendees. This beer was produced using 85% locally grown and malted barley and hops, provided by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/echoviewfarm.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Echoview Farms<\/em><\/a>. In keeping with the warmer weather, our APA was designed as an \u201cAll Day IPA\u201d with a floral, slightly citrusy hop aroma and flavor without sacrificing mouthfeel or body.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1545\" src=\"http:\/\/riverbendmalt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/JustBrewIt.jpg\" alt=\"Big News\" width=\"399\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/riverbendmalt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/JustBrewIt.jpg 607w, https:\/\/riverbendmalt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/JustBrewIt-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/riverbendmalt.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/JustBrewIt-600x419.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 399px) 100vw, 399px\" \/>In preparing for this event, we had humble expectations based on the strong homebrewing culture in Western North Carolina. Given the strong field of entries, we were honored to be one of only 5 entries to be brewed commercially!! We were selected by\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.greenmanbrewery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Green Man Brewing Company<\/a><\/em>\u00a0for a full production run that we hope will happen in early Fall 2011. We also received an \u201cHonorable Mention\u201d from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.highlandbrewing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Highland Brewing Company<\/em><\/a>\u00a0and look forward to working with them on a brew in their new pilot-scale system.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, this event was a strong vote of confidence for Riverbend Malt House and our quest to make a truly local beer.
